We are going to be doing an oil change on 3rd Gen (2016-2019) Tacoma.
First we’re going to be removing this cover plate which is where the oil filter is going to be. And a little bit further back we got the drain plug hole. So, we might be able to do this oil change without actually having to take the skid plate off.
Take off the drain plug which is a 14 millimeter.
We need to install the full moto drain plug first you want to make sure it’s clean and that the other washer is off because it may be stuck and you don’t a leakage.
So, once that’s installed, next time when you do your oil change, we’re going to have to do push this up and flip it over and then the oil will come out just like that. And then once you’re done, just close it and actually locks comes down into a little ridge that it locks into.
Remove an old filter and prepare the new one. Insert the little plastic piece that comes with your filter in there to drain all the oil out of the oil filter. Replace the old rubber gasket.
So, grab a new one, get some clean oil, run it along that and then just put it on make sure it seats at the last part of it like that. And then same thing for the small gasket.
And after you’ve cleaned everything, you just want to put this back on to that and then just tighten that down. Put this new filter on just like that and then we’re going to put it back in after we tighten this.
Then the last thing we want to do is torque it.
Add the new oil. Check the oil level and make sure there’s no leakage.
